It all seems like a blur. I remember New Year's 2009 like it was last weekend. Strangely bizarre how it has been six months since then. I'm going to go with the explanation that the first half of '09 must have been a blast for me and, since "time fl…

Vegan
About Me:
I hold a reverence for life, logic, and love. A vegan diet is one of the best examples of a well thought out, compassionate, and honest way of living. It enables a person and community to thrive in life and not just make it to the next day. I am very proud to be vegan, and to be associated with others who value bettering ourselves and the world we live in.

Wolverine was great.

Don't know what everyone was talking about when they claimed it disappointed. I really liked that film and would recommend it to anyone.

Also liked Happy Feet, Gamer, This Is It, and La Tragedia de Macario. Sunshine Cleaning and New Moon were okay. Saw Star Trek again, since the girlfriend bought the DVD, and am still blown away by that movie. I still got teary-eyed before the title sequence. Easily the best movie of 2009, and definitely one of the best films ever made.

In October 2009, I...

* Celebrated World Vegetarian Day by doing what I normally do every day.

* Went to see the Austin Toros try-outs, both here and in Austin, and discovered an absolutely gorgeous drive in ATX off of FM2222.

* Ate at 20NINE for the first time, the event being Hiep's birthday dinner (Evie's co-worker's fiance).

* Attended the Spurs open practice at the AT&T Center.

* Visited the McNay Art Museum. Again.

* Went to First Friday, got my car towed, got it back, and saw Tiffany and the S.A.S.S.… Continue

In September 2009, I...

* Got a new job with Chase Bank as a Telephone Banker (seamlessly transitioning from my previous job at AFNI where I was still training and left on good terms).

* Got wireless internet at my place for the first time ever.

* Went to the first of what would end up being three guardianship hearings regarding my mother.

* Got a gym membership at Joe's Gym.

* Finally saw Pablo Veliz's first film.

* Worked as an extra in the feature film "The Dream of Diego Marquez."

* Went to the second "Dreamh… Continue

50 Movie Reviews - Part Three (37-50)

... and we finally finish with the old business...

Slumdog Millionaire

One of the best movies I've ever seen. Probably my second favorite of this bunch. Danny Boyle is quickly becoming one of my favorite directors because of his versatility and courage. I've heard of this film for a while while it was making the rounds at the "foo-foo" theaters, and it wasn't until Rick told me about it and how much he liked it that… Continue

Harry Potter: Order of the Phoenix

Great one. Actually the whole series has been impressive. I haven't read any of the books yet, but I'm really glad this whole story is out. At first, I didn't get why this sort of thing is so special. We've had plenty of books and movies about wizards and magic and evil sorcerers and potions and castles and just the general English Medieval-Times feel, so what's all… Continue
