Don't know what everyone was talking about when they claimed it disappointed. I really liked that film and would recommend it to anyone.
Also liked Happy Feet, Gamer, This Is It, and La Tragedia de Macario. Sunshine Cleaning and New Moon were okay. Saw Star Trek again, since the girlfriend bought the DVD, and am still blown away by that movie. I still got teary-eyed before the title sequence. Easily the best movie of 2009, and definitely one of the best films ever made.
Finished watching the first season of True Blood and I like it. I'm getting used the high quality, cable-produced, TV shows like that one, Dexter, and now Nurse Jackie, that when I see an ABC produced show like V, I'm a little let down. I'm still going to give it a chance, though.
For books, I would say that "Art & Fear" is a must read for any kind of artist, professional, aspiring professional, or happy-to-be amateur. In other words, everyone. Every literate soul needs to read that book. You'll feel better afterward, I promise. :)
Angels & Demons was excellent. A fantastic read. Something that felt similar to the DaVinci Code, even though the stories were completely different. The Angels & Demons movie didn't do the book any justice, in my opinion.
The Chinese Gung Fu book written by Bruce Lee was good. Old school stuff here, but as relevant as the day he penned it. The yin-yang concept introduced in the book makes me wonder when that symbol, and idea, first became mainstream.
The two plays I saw recently, "The Brain That Wouldn't Die" and "Lend Me a Tenor" were both great, but in different ways. If you want original, quirky, dancing, and slapstick humor, then "Brain" is for you. If you wanted character-driven, tightly-paced, wonderfully-put together theater in a more traditional setting, the "Tenor" should get the nod from you. I personally feel that "Tenor" was one of the best plays I've ever seen.
